Who we are
BookPlay ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at bookplay.co.uk — a directory of soft play and children's activity centres across the UK. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
What data we collect
- Usage data — pages visited, search terms, and how you interact with the site, collected via Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) if you have given consent.
- Postcode — we use your searched postcode to find nearby venues and sessions. It is included in search requests to our servers and saved in a cookie on your device to personalise your experience.
- Device location — if you choose “Use my location” and grant permission, your browser sends coordinates rounded to three decimal places to Postcodes.io to find a nearby UK postcode. BookPlay uses the returned postcode for the search; it does not put your device coordinates in its search URLs, cookies or analytics events.
- Account data — if you create a venue owner account, we store your email address and a hashed password.
- Reviews — if you submit a review, we store the content and the date submitted.
- Contact messages — if you email us, we retain that correspondence.

How we use your data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Third-party services
- Postcodes.io — postcode lookups and, when you use the optional device-location search, a nearby postcode lookup using rounded coordinates.
- Google Analytics — usage statistics. Only loaded with your consent. Google's privacy policy.
- Google Places API — venue data (names, addresses, photos, ratings). Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Vercel — website hosting. May process request logs. Vercel's privacy policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict how we process your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time

Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Reviews are retained indefinitely unless you request removal. Analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention periods (up to 14 months).
